About Us
Powered by Partnership
It takes partnership to manage and protect a diverse environment like the Boston Harbor Islands. The Boston Harbor Islands Partnership coordinates management of the island park, with representatives from a range of government and nonprofit agencies. The Boston Harbor Islands Advisory Council advises the Partnership on ongoing park operations. And we also collaborate with many other government agencies, tribes, not-for-profit organizations, colleges and universities, and businesses. The result? We’re all working together to achieve our mission:
Unlike other national parks, the National Park Service does not own or manage the islands in the park. Instead, eight federal, state, municipal, and nonprofit agencies manage the islands. One half of the islands are the responsibility of Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR), the Massachusetts state park agency.
This Official Boston Harbor Islands Trip Planner is a cooperative effort of the National Park Service and Boston Harbor Island Alliance on behalf of the Partnership. Our thanks to Weber Media Partners for their commitment to quality design, customer service, and collaboration in creating this site.
